The biggest international event of the Habano tobacco culture comes to a close. The Gala Evening provided a fitting end that saw the presentation of the new Linea 1935, the brand’s most premium offer. Guests at the evening celebration could taste the three vitolas of the novel Línea 1935: Maltés (53 x 153 mm) and Dumas (49 x 130 mm), while Leyenda (55 x 165 mmm) takes the form of the Montecristo 80 Aniversario. The traditional Humidores Auction provided the finishing touches to the Festival. An exquisite Bolivar-branded humidified cigar box was put up for auction. The seven lots auctioned raised a total of €1,265,000, which will be donated in full to the Cuban Public Health System.
The 19th Cuban Cigar Festival opened in Havana on Monday with the industry in a buoyant mood following encouraging sales figures for 2016. Despite uncertainties in the global economy and the threat of anti-smoking laws, Cuban cigar sales rose last year. CGTN’s Michael Voss reports from Havana.

The 20th Habanos Festival in Cuba kicked off with the launch of a new and exclusive limited edition Cohiba cigar, the Reserva Robustos Cosecha 2014, produced from specially selected leaves subjected to a three year aging process. The new series has been produced in very limited quantities, only 5,000 numbered boxes embodying the exclusivity of Cohiba. The launch will be the star of the Festival’s Welcome Night evening in the Salón de Protocolo El Laguito, in Playa. The Habanos Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary of bringing the lovers of the world’s best tobacco together in Havana.

The Cuban Cigar Festival came to an end on Saturday after more than two thousand people from around 70 countries came to the event to mingle and enjoy Havana's classic cigars. The event ended with a gala dinner and a humidor auction, which raised almost 1.5 million Euros for the island's public health system. Participants bid on the tobacco holders which are, in reality, true works of art. Cigar lovers had the opportunity to present and try the newest products on the Cuban tobacco market, from emblematic brands like Montecristo and Cohiba.

(4 Mar 2017) Top Cuban cigars were auctioned at a gala dinner in Havana on Friday. It marked the end of the country's annual cigar festival, which draws cigar distributors and investors to compete for handcrafted humidors. This year cigar enthusiasts bid on six elaborate humidors filled with premium stogies at the million-dollar auction. The highest bid was 403,655 US dollars for a Cohiba humidor - by far the biggest amount paid during the hour-long auction. The winning bidder, Canadian Leander D'Silva, also bought two other humidors for 106,225 dollars each. The proceeds from the sales go to Cuba's health care system.
